Shoulder/Rib/Breast Pain
Question:
Julie-I had a doctor tell me once, if you find a lump and you gently squeeze it, if it hurts, it is probably a cyst. Breast cancer, in its early stages is usually painless. Have you been having regular mammograms? Have they been clear? If so, then calm down sweetie. Dont panic. It is probably nothing. Char "Remember, I’m pulling for ya’. We’re all in this together." I want some opinions, please, on this strange hurting in my left breast.
Julie, Darling, from I could find based on your description of the symptoms you are having an "anything but pleasant" bout with costochondritis. That is what came up when I entered the data and followed all the proper arrows in the book, "The Complete Home Medical Guide" put out by the American College of Physicians. Tender and painful but not the big "C". Continue with your doctor’s recommendations but surgery should not be required in this case. Now here is a gentle "Hug" and some of Susan’s homemade fudge. Be well, Larry

Why is your dr. sending you to a surgeon?
OOOHHHH….I don’t really know! Just doing what my dr (gyn) suggested. But believe me..I would never do anything without another opinion. I guess it’s because of the mamogram, tho. The nurse did say they have all the equipment for further testing…another mamo. and cat scan I think she said. I do trust my gyn. And also if a biopsy has to be done later, the surgeon would be the one to do that. julie molli

I’ve posted about this earlier but can’t even find my message on Google so if any of you have read something similar to this from me…that is why! My post must have been lost somewhere in cyber space. I want some opinions, please, on this strange hurting in my left breast. I’ve talked to my dr and I have an appointment with a surgeon Wed. Yikes!!! Just saying that scares me. I have RA and Fibromyalgia. My left shoulder has been in bad shape for several years now with bone degeneration and pain in the tendons. I also have rib pain under my breasts and between. Not shooting pain but to the touch. Rheumatolgist seems to think chotocondritis (sp). Also, remember the tender points from Fibro. esp. to the side of my left breast and slightly on right. After saying all that, I got a report on my Mamogram in Oct. saying there is calcification and to come back in April. My left breast is constantly sore and has been since before Oct. but seems to be getting worse. Not just sore to touch but mild pain all around. Now! With all this info. I want someone to tell me that I have alot going on with my left side and it’s not going to be breast cancer! I know that is impossible for you and I will be finding out soon enough since I am going Wed. BUT have any of you experienced anything like this???? Guess I just want some reassurance from all of you folks. I think the shoulder/tendons/fibro will play a big part of this but still……can’t help but worry. Thanks…just needed to write it all out! julie molli

It sounds like it could be costochondritis to me. My chest seems to ache all the time since it hit me, it’s just more tolerable since we got to the current level of DMARDs. There are times when one breast or the other REALLY aches. (both did for weeks when it was really bad.) Also the tenderness in e center between the breasts is consistent with cost. In costo the cartilege that connects the bony part of the rib to the sternum is inflammed and you are generally quite sore throughout that area. Also very tender a couple of fingers below the collarbone, a couple of inches out from midline. It’s a good idea though to rule out other possibilities though. Why is your dr. sending you to a surgeon? Is it for this or something else? it seems to me that they should determine what is causing the pain before sending ou to a surgeon who is biased towards cutting. — Nann remove the Gator cheer to email me "To array a man’s will against his sickness is the supreme art of medicine." …Henry Ward Beecher – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’ve posted about this earlier but can’t even find my message on Google so if any of you have read something similar to this from me…that is why!
