Another stitching festival — CATS

Question:

The CATS show for Atlanta is the weekend after HOCS in Cherry Hill – HOCS starts on the 16th and CATS starts on the 23rd. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The info is in the car but from memory.  Atlanta is the same week-end as HOC.  Minneapolis is in August and Ontario is in October.  Will post exact dates later.  There will only be 3 in 1999.  For 2000, they are also looking at Denver and Pittsburgh. There are 4 organizers – Rudy (president of Zweigart), Marilyn of Stoney Creek (owner), Liz of Liz Turner Diehl Designs (and distributor of Madeira threads in US) and Lois of For Stitchers Sake. THe show will be more than cross stitch – needlepoint, quilting, wearable art, beading, etc. THis is a very experienced group handling these shows and I’m sure the venture will be absolutely wonderful.  I’m really looking forward to these shows. Jackie Murawski Sam-CLoth Designs Am I the only one who didn’t know about a second series of stitching festivals? I just learned last Friday (Thanks, Linn!) about CATS, Creative Arts and Textiles Show, which will be putting on at least three and maybe as many as five shows in 1999.  The first is in Atlanta in late June (the week after Heart in Cherry Hill, I believe), the second in Minneapolis in August (same weekend as Heart in Ontario CA), there’s one in CA (might be Sacramento) in October, and possible shows in Denver and somewhere in Pennsylvania that have yet to be scheduled.  The information is on the Stoney Creek website, www.stoneycreek.com, under the Travel section. CATS is a joint venture of Lois Norford (I think she designed the breast cancer sampler a couple of years ago; I know she has taught at SOXS), Marilyn Vredevelt of Stoney Creek, and Liz Turner Diehl.  The office front person is Cathy, who was the office front person for Spirit. It looks like with the demise of Spirit of Cross Stitch, there’s a huge void, and lots of people are rushing to fill the void.  How exciting for stitchers!!! Judy

Creative Arts and Textiles Show information is given at both these Websites: <http://www.needleworker.com/index.html <http://www.stoneycreek.com/ontheroad.html Both sites indicate there will be five shows in 1999. Each site gives dates for three of the shows: June 23-27, 1999 – Atlanta, Georgia August 18-22, 1999 – Minneapolis, Minnesota October 13-17, 1999 – Ontario, California The Stoney Creek site says dates for a Denver, Colorado show and city and dates for a Pennsylvania show will be announded. The Needleworker site says dates for both shows will be announced and says the Pennsylvania show will be in Pittsburgh. It also gives this address and phone info for the shows: CATS Dept. TNW 4539-A Clover Dr Clemmons, NC 27012 Phone: 336-778-1157 and says that an email address and Website URL will be announced soon. HTH, Nan Evelyn
