Rare breast cancer callled Padgett's disease?
Question:
Greetings! Thanks so much for all of the kind messages directing me to info re: Paget’s disease (finally got the spelling right). I forwarded some of the info to my mom, who is still awaiting the results from her biopsy. WHY must it take so long to get these results back?!?!? Wishing you all the best, Amy
Response:
Mary, Henry Bone, M.D., Detroit Michigan is on the board of the Pagett Foundation, and is heading one of the FDA drug committees. I am sure you can get info from Dr. Bone (he’s an old friend of mine). I would call him in Detroit, his office is on Moross Road, and may be under the Michigan Bone and Mineral Foundation, or his name. He is one of the nation’s top two specialist in Pagett’s and bone disorders. His patients are booked months in advance, however please tell him I sent you – just say the "person in Dallas, who used to live on Moross." He’ll know. Or email me through my web site for his personal address, etc. I also have hyperparathyroidism, and flew to him for my post operative care during that time. He is worth his weight in gold – and a great individual! — Become a saavy healthcare consumer http://web2.airmail.net/lorac1/ "BREAST CANCER: My Experience May Save Your Life!" – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello, all, My mother has been experiencing some strange symptoms with one of her breasts. She has had two mammograms, two ultrasounds, two doctors examine her and one biopsy. Mammos and ultrasounds come back negative, we’re still waiting on the biopsy. The doctors can’t figure out what it is, and one of them told her she has a 50/50 chance of having Padgett’s disease, which I gather is some kind of uncommon breast cancer. Obviously, we are very concerned, but a Web Search under Padgett’s Disease (using several different spellings) yielded only info on some sort of bone density disorder. Can anyone give me any information? My mother’s symptoms include a very large, red, sensitive area around the nipple. Many thanks! Amy

I don’t know if this will help you or not…I am not a doctor just have done alot of searching/reading since I was diagnosised last year. Mine was Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma. From what I have read Pagetts (sp?) disease is a cancerous condition of the "nipple" area. These sites might help you get some solid information. They all have great databases for this kind of info. http://my.webmd.com/ http://www.adam.com/ http://www.acs.org/ (American Cancer Society) Hope this helps you out abit. Please give your mother my best. Take care there Annie "….I will age ungracefully until I become an old woman in a small
